The heat is on.
In the Maritimes we are in a peak summer season. So I did some research and some testing to find my favourite summer hacks to demonstrate on CTV Morning Live.
FROZEN WATER BALLOONS
Fill balloons with water and Freeze them! Put frozen balloons in your beach cooler to keep your drinks cold all day long without getting water logged! You can reuse your water balloon ice packs by re freezing them between outdoor outings or you can always let the kids have a water balloon fight when they melt!
BABY POWDER REMOVES SAND
Love going to the beach but hate all the sand that gets dragged back home with you? I keep baby powder in my vehicle because it works amazingly to get all that sand off your feet and your kids feet before getting into the car.
You can even sprinkle baby powder over your beach toys and shake them in a mesh bag. All the sand will fall away from the toys and your vehicle will stay sand free!
NO MESS FINGER PAINTING
Looking for the perfect rainy day activity?
This no mess finger painting is so easy, fun and mess free. I even tried it and found it very therapeutic!
Squeeze about a tablespoon of various paints into a large Ziploc bag. Seal it. Tape it down to a table and let the kids go to town. Lennon said she was painting an island with the sky and some clouds. She was highly entertained so all the other kids wanted in on it too. The paint doesn't dry so they can continue to swirl and design for as long as they want!
FROZEN ALOE VERA
SOOTH A SUN BURN FAST!
Fill and ice cube tray with aloe vera gel and freeze it. When you have a sun burn, or if the kids get too much sun, pop out an individual cube and rub it on the burn. It will cool and sooth the area.
FREEZE LEFTOVER COFFEE
Don't let that organic coffee go to waste. If you have leftover coffee from your morning pot. Pour it into an ice cube tray and freeze! When the afternoon rolls around, and your on the hunt for a caffeine kick you can quickly make the perfect Ice Coffee! Place the cubes into a cup and pour your choice of milk/ almond milk over top. Delicious & refreshing!
SUGAR FREE HOME MADE ICE CREAM
NO ICE CREAM MAKER NEEDED!
Is Ice Cream your favourite summer treat? It sure is mine. I love ice cream but don't like home much sugar is in it. This is a super easy way to make your own homemade ice cream without an ice cream maker and you will know exactly what ingredient is in it.
I also loved that it occupied the kids for 15 to 20 minutes as they all took part in shaking!
Fill a small Ziploc bag with your ice cream mix.
Milk/ Almond Milk/ Coconut milk
Vanilla extract to taste
Powdered Swerve or liquid stevia
Pinch of salt
Put that Ziploc bag inside another Ziploc bag of the same size.
Take a large Freezer ZipLoc and add ice and coarse salt
Put your Small Ziplock inside the big Ziploc. Double bag the large Ziploc and start shaking!
Within 15-20 minutes of shaking your ice cream is made!
I got fancy and put my home made ice cream on top off my coffee ice cubes!
Yummy Yummy!
