Jordan's Home Furnishings Makes Custom Furniture A No Brainer.

In today’s blog I am excited to break down my design and furniture selection for my kitchen and dining room space.

When I started the renovation of this century old home in downtown Halifax my mind was set on opening up the walls and having one grand room on the main floor, (Kitchen, Dining, Living room). But I also wanted each space to be defined as their own. This took some careful planning, and meant I had to make design decisions that would impact the space, early on in my renovation.

In order to have my kitchen and dining room feel cohesive and well thought through, I started incorporating my furniture selection into the grand scheme of my design plans right from the get go. Creating a mood board for my design and renovation projects is a big part of my process.

Here are my Kitchen and Dining room mood boards from September 2021.

Working with the locally owned and family run furniture store Jordan’s Home Furnishings, I selected all my Kitchen stools, dining chairs and table in person. I love being able to physically touch and feel all the fabrics, and compare the wood tones with my flooring and decor. The knowledgable staff at Jordan’s walked me through the entire process, making selection seamless and easy. There are so many fabulous fabrics to choose from, so you don’t need to pick pink like I did. But adding a fun colour to your kitchen island stools is a great way to get a pop of colour into your home space.

You can also play around on the Canadel website from the comfort of your own home, selecting fabric, shape and finishing details. I used the online software to save the images of the products I selected for my mood boards.

My stools are custom built and made to order through Jordan’s home furnishings. They offer full design services at both their locations (Halifax & New Minas). Jordan’s is family owned for over 50 years and is centrally located in Bayers lake.

From design to conception. Here is the final look of my kitchen space.

Here is the breakdown of my selections for those who are looking to recreate this look!

The stools are product number 8051, Fabric AA, body colour Natural Washed. It’s fun to go on to the Canadel website and play around with their customization software. There are endless options to fit every style and colour preference.  You can also type SNF08051AA02M24 into the search bar and my exact model will come up!

I also love to host diner parties and gather around a table to feast with friends. For my dining room, I wanted to strike a balance between modern and traditional. I also knew I wanted really comfortable seats around the table.

I ended up mixing and matching the dining room table and the chairs from two style available through Canadel. I selected a chair with a neutral fabric and arms, and the table with the gold leg detail.

The table I selected is SKU: TRE0409225GLMMMNF

The chair is #9040 with fabric 7P and Natural washed wood

I’ve made them both clickable so you can easily find them on the Canadel site. But going into a local Jordan’s Home furnishings is always your best bet, so you can see all the selection and sizes in person!

I love the mix of tone and texture and colour I was able to achieve with my custom furniture selections. The creaming neutrals with the pop of pink against my green grey cabinets. It’s a soft mix of femininity and whimsy that gives my home a special custom touch.

My experience with Jordans Home Furnishing was amazing. Custom furniture does take time to receive from conception to delivery, so if you are starting a new renovation or looking to update your home furniture, I suggest you do this early in your project. By the time I was ready to move into my new home, my furniture had arrived!

P.S. They are even offering clients $100 off $1,000 or more when they mention my name!

Some exclusions apply, please see stores for details.

I love the final look of my open concept kitchen and dining room space. What do you think? Drop a comment below with your thoughts. XO Rebekah
